Who created HackerTube?

Andrej Karpathy created HackerTube. His launch post describes a project he directed with Claude Code, including personally arranging the domain, API access and server. Claude was the development tool, not the person responsible for the project.

Who created HackerTube, and what was his role?

Karpathy set the product direction: discover videos through Hacker News discussions. In his account, he also purchased the domain, created an API key for video metadata and provisioned a VPS. That separates authorship and direction from the automated implementation work. Calling it AI-built does not mean an AI independently decided to launch and operate the service.

Who owns HackerTube?

The public account identifies Karpathy as the person behind the project and says he bought the domain. It does not establish a separate legal entity or document every intellectual-property right. The careful answer is that this is his independently initiated project; formal legal ownership has not been independently verified here.

Is this Explorer site run by the creator?

No. You are reading HackerTube Explorer at hackertube.top, an independent guide. The original project is at hackertube.org. A shared subject and public data do not make this guide an official channel. For statements about the original project, follow the creator’s own account.
